Woolly Mammoths Hold Off Unicorns, 7-6

UTICA, Mich. – Jalin Lawson drove in a game-high three runs and Ethan Wiskur went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead the Westside Woolly Mammoths (1-2) to a 7-6 victory over the Utica Unicorns (2-2) in United Shore Professional Baseball action on Saturday night at Jimmy John’s Field.
Right-handed pitcher Josh Mason earned the win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings for the Woolly Mammoths. RHP Gavin Collins came in to earn the save, inducing a double play ground ball to second base with the bases loaded to preserve the one-run victory.
Dan Ward went 2-for-4 with a home run, his second of the season, and Justin Erlandson finished 2-for-4 for the Unicorns.
The Mammoths scored seven runs, on seven hits and had one error, while the Unicorns posted six runs, on 10 hits, and committed one error.
