Enos’ Big Night Powers Utica Past Birmingham, 12-7
July 4th, 2026
UTICA, Mich. – The Utica Unicorns (11-11) broke open a back-and-forth contest with a pair of explosive middle innings, defeating the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (11-8), 12-7, on Friday night at UWM Field. Utica scored nine runs across the fourth and fifth innings to erase an early deficit and secure the victory.
Birmingham jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead after scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, but the Unicorns answered in the third when shortstop Ryan Enos launched a two-run home run to pull Utica within one.
The game turned in the fourth inning as Utica exploded for five runs. Enos delivered again with a bases-clearing double, Alex Harrell added a two-run double, and the Unicorns sent 10 batters to the plate to take an 8-4 advantage. They weren’t finished, tacking on four more runs in the fifth to stretch the lead to 12-6.
Enos led the offensive charge, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run, double, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Harrell added a double and an RBI, while Zach Bauers drove in another run. Despite collecting just five hits, the Unicorns took advantage of 11 walks and three Birmingham errors to produce 12 runs.
After Utica’s starter exited before recording an out, the bullpen settled things down. Calvin Shepherd earned the victory with two innings of work, allowing two runs—only one earned—while striking out two. Dillon Fischer and Griffin Graham combined to finish off the final two innings and preserve the win.
The Beavers were paced by Matt Piotrowski’s three-hit night and Amari Bartee’s two RBIs, but the Beavers couldn’t overcome Utica’s offensive outburst in the middle innings.
