ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers and Utica Unicorns sit atop the United Shore Professional Baseball League standings, just one game ahead of the Westside Woolly Mammoths as the race for the top seed in the playoffs is heating up to highlight This Week in the USPBL.
JaVon Shelby had a special week, smashing three home runs and driving in all six runs for the Mammoths in a 6-1 win over the Diamond Hoppers. The Woolly Mammoths are just one game behind the Beavers.
Local product Pat Adams continues to put up amazing numbers for the Hoppers. The Warren, Mich., native leads the league with a .360 batting average and has reached base safely in 32 of 33 games this season.
The Beavers’ Adam Gauthier continues to have one of the more impressive seasons going in the USPBL. He leads the league with 24 runs batted in and ranks third with a .333 batting average.
