Rye Pothakos

Assistant Scouting Director

Rye Pothakos will be entering his fifth season with the United Shore Professional Baseball League. During his time with the USPBL, Pothakos has signed three players that have made their way to MLB Orgnaizations – Jake Mayer (RHP, Seattle Mariners), Malik Barrington (RHP, Minnesota Twins) and Ricardo Velez (RHP, Minnesota Twins).

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has been involved in the scouting and recruiting of players, assisting Jim Essian. Pothakos has been with a number of Baseball Leagues and Teams including the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks, Joplin Blasters, Elmira Pioneers and the Regina Cyclones. Pothakos has coached, managed and scouted for the Greek National Baseball Team, leading them back to the European A Pool. He has coached MLB Players Marco Gonzalez (LHP, Seattle Mariners) and Josh Taylor (LHP, Kansas City Royals).

He has also scouted for the Bostons Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and is currently an Associate Scout with the Kansas City Royals while also serving as the Director of Scouting and Baseball Operations for the collegiate team, Regina Red Sox.
