Beavers Score Late to Defeat Woolly Mammoths, 7-6
UTICA, Mich. – Nick Campana drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning and Adam Gauthier finished 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (13-10) to a 7-6 win over the Westside Woolly Mammoths (10-13) on Friday night at Jimmy John’s Field. The Beavers have won four straight games.
Left-handed pitcher Dylan Collett (3-2) picked up the win in relief, retiring both batters he faced in the eighth inning. RHP Matt Dallas earned his league-leading fourth save of the season by retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth, striking out one. Dallas recorded the Mopar fastest pitch of the game at 95 miles per hour.
Ryan Dobson led the Woolly Mammoths offensively, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ethan Wiskur finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Wiskur will participate in the Rawlings Home Run Derby on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. He finished runner-up in 2018.
Earlier in the game, Mammoths’ second baseman Alec Craig became the fourth player to sign with a Major League Baseball Organization this season, and 31st overall since 2016. Read full story HERE.
The annual USPBL All-Star Game and Rawlings Home Run Derby will take place on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and live music will be played by Blue Spectrum from the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union Sound Stage.
