UTICA, Mich. – In front of a packed Fourth of July crowd at Jimmy John’s Field, the Westside Woolly Mammoths (8-11) staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Utica Unicorns(10-11), 11–8, on Thursday night. Powered by an eight-run fifth inning, the Mammoths erased a five-run deficit and held on late to secure their eighth win of the season.

The fireworks started early for Westside, as Hank Dodson launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Mammoths a quick 3–0 lead. Dodson reached base twice in the game and finished with three RBIs.

After the Unicorns responded with two runs in the third and four more in the fourth—highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Ryan Enos—Utica took an 8–3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. That’s when the Mammoths’ offense erupted.

Dante Morton delivered a two-run home run—part of a 3-for-3 day that included a walk and two runs scored and an inside the park home run—while Derek Wood added a two-RBI single to tie the game. Adam Haidermota capped the rally with a three-run double to give Westside an 11–8 lead. Haidermota finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two stolen bases.

On the mound, Mason Hill (1–0) earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief, while Noah Stants picked up his first save of the season by closing out the eighth.

For Utica, Thomas Collins led the charge with a 3-for-4 night, including two doubles, three RBIs, and a walk. Enos added four RBIs on two doubles of his own.
