Mammoths Complete Doubleheader Sweep with 4-0 Victory Over Unicorns

UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (7-1) completed a doubleheader sweep of the Utica Unicorns (4-4) on Saturday night, earning a 4-0 victory in the second game at UWM Field.
The Mammoths wasted little time taking control, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The big blow came from Dalton Pearson, who launched a three-run home run to right field, giving the Mammoths an early advantage they would not relinquish. The Mammoths added an insurance run in the third inning when Tommy Stevenson delivered an RBI single, extending the lead to 4-0.
Utica struggled to generate offense against Mammoths starter Reilly Schafer, who tossed a complete-game shutout. The Unicorns managed just one hit on the evening, a single by catcher Manny Jackson in the fifth inning.
Thomas Collins reached base with a walk and stole a base, while Ryan Enos also drew a walk, but the Unicorns were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
On the mound, Coley Kilpatrick worked four innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out three. Garrett Harker provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing a scoreless fifth inning and striking out one.
The Mammoths collected four hits in the win, led by Pearson’s three-run homer and three RBIs. Chase Jans reached base twice, scored two runs, and added a stolen base as the Mammoths secured the 4-0 victory.
