Hoppers Beat Mammoths in Back-and-Forth Battle, 7-5

UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (10-5) held off the Westside Woolly Mammoths (5-9) in a tightly contested game at Jimmy John’s Field, securing a 7-5 win on Thursday night.
After trading solo runs in the first, the Mammoths surged ahead with a 3-run third inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and RBI singles from Hank Dodson and Derek Wood. But the Hoppers responded immediately, plating four runs in the bottom half of the inning—highlighted by a three-run homer from Sam Schner, his second of the game.
Despite the Mammoths tying it briefly in the fourth, the Hoppers pulled away in the sixth thanks to a pair of RBI singles from Schner and Gio Ferraro.
Both teams finished with 7 hits, but timely offense and sharp bullpen work gave the Hoppers the edge.
