Unicorns Win Close Contest with Beavers, 4-3
UTICA, Mich. – The Utica Unicorns (24-20) defeated the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (16-27) in a must win game, 4-3, Thursday night at Jimmy John’s Field in front of an energetic crowd.
Tristan Harvin started on the mound for the Unicorns, tossing 4.0 innings, striking out five and allowing one run on one hit. Despite giving up two runs in the top of the ninth, Ben Krizen earned his fourth save of the season.
Offensively for Utica, Kody Hanna went 2-for-4, Marques Titialii had one RBI and Kyle Schmack and Ethan Krizen each had a hit.
For the Beavers, Joe Burke hit a home run to get the attempted rally started. Ranko Stevanovic scored the second run in a pinch hit situation. Ray Hilbrich had two hits, while Ben Wilcoxson and Matt Piotrowski both had one.
