Hoppers Use Long Ball To Beat Beavers, 6-1
UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (21-20) hot two early home runs to defeat the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (15-23), 6-1, on Wednesday night in front of a lively crowd at Jimmy John’s Field.
Noah Marcoux and Luis Aviles both hit home runs in the first and second innings. Aviles ended the night going 3-for-4, with three RBI. Third baseman Todd Mattox brought in the other run for the Hoppers. On the mound, RHP John Kelly made the start, earning the win and improving his record to 9-2. Kelly tossed 6.0 innings, striking out six, allowing no runs and no hits.
For the Beavers, Chase Rodriguez had three hits, while Ray Hilbrich went 2-for-3. The Beavers scored in the top of the ninth inning to give them their only run of the game.
