Hoppers Beat Unicorns, 8-1
UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (15-10) took down the Utica Unicorns (13-13), 8-1, with help from Ben Ferguson‘s third home run of the season, in front of a sold out crowd in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Jimmy John’s Field.
Ferguson ended game one going 3-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI. Second baseman Bailey Martin, crossed home plate twice and had one hit of his own. The Hoppers scored eight runs on eight hits in the six inning game.
Pierce Banks earned the win, improving his record to 4-2. Banks tossed 4.0 innings, striking out four, scattering four hits and allowing the one Unicorns run.
For the Unicorns, lead-off hitter Andre Demetral had one hit and one RBI. Ethan Krizen scored Utica’s lone run.
