Beavers Tie Strike Out Record, Beating Mammoths, 10-5

UTICA, Mich. – The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (14-20) defeated the Westside Woolly Mammoths (19-14), with Greg Loukinen on the mound, 10-5, in front of a sold out crowd Friday night at Jimmy John’s Field. Loukinen struck out 12 batters, which ties for second in the USPBL record book for most strike outs in a single game.
Loukinen pitched 5.2 innings, scattered five hits, allowed one run and walked three. In relief, Brett Erwin struck out both of the batters he faced in the bottom of the eight inning.
Offensively for the Beavers, Pablo Ruiz went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Ranko Stevanovic and Matt Piotrowksi each had two hits. Piotrowski hit his sixth home run of the season. First baseman Joe Burke went 1-for-2 with three walks.
For the Mammoths, five players had two hits. Zach Beadle had himself a two RBI game. The Mammoths scored give runs on eleven hits.
