Decker Dominates as Beavers Shut Out Hoppers, 6-0

UTICA, Mich. – The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (22-20) received a dominant complete-game performance from Jack Decker on Saturday night, shutting out the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (13-30), 6-0, at UWM Field. Birmingham finished with 11 hits while holding Eastside to just three. 

Decker was in control from start to finish, tossing all nine innings and allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 12. He faced only 28 batters in the complete-game shutout, throwing 112 pitches, 73 for strikes. 

The Beavers opened the scoring with a run in the second before David Coppedge extended the lead in the third, launching his sixth home run of the season. Birmingham added two more runs in the sixth and another pair in the eighth to put the game away. 

Birmingham’s offense received contributions throughout the lineup. Amari Bartee collected two hits and scored twice, while Jeffrey Reseigh went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kaehukai Young added two hits, including a double, while Derek Gellos tripled, drove in a run and scored once. 

Eastside starter Nicholas Soller took the loss despite allowing just two runs over five innings. Eli Watson accounted for two of the Diamond Hoppers’ three hits, but Eastside was unable to break through against Decker. 

The victory capped off Saturday night’s action at UWM Field, with the Beavers earning the convincing 6-0 shutout behind one of the strongest pitching performances of the season.
