August 15th, 2026
UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (12-26) jumped out to an early lead and held off a late push from the Westside Woolly Mammoths (21-16) to earn a 6-3 victory Saturday night at UWM Field.
Eastside wasted no time getting on the board, scoring once in the first inning before breaking the game open with a five-run second inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
The big blow came from David Kedrow, who launched a three-run home run in the second inning for his third homer of the season. Kedrow finished the night with a hit, two runs scored and three RBIs. Eli Watson also helped power the Eastside offense, going 2-for-4 and driving in two runs. Eastside starting pitcher Nicholas Soller kept the Mammoths off the scoreboard through five innings. He allowed just one hit over five shutout innings, striking out three on his way to earning the win.
Westside finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth. After loading the bases, Kyle Revere delivered a two-run double, and Matt McGann added an RBI as the Mammoths cut the deficit to 6-3. Revere led the Westside offense with two of the team’s three hits and finished with two RBIs.
That would be as close as the Mammoths would get. Eastside relievers Alek Elges and Jude Baxt combined to keep Westside scoreless over the final 2.2 innings, with Baxt striking out two in the eighth to record the save.
Eastside finished with nine hits while holding Westside to three. The Diamond Hoppers also turned three double plays and were aggressive on the basepaths, recording eight stolen bases on the night.
