UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (22-12) delivered a commanding performance Friday night at Jimmy John’s Field, shutting out the Utica Unicorns (16-17), 11-0, in front of an energetic crowd.

The game remained close early, but the Hoppers broke through in the second inning when Jorge Gonzalez launched a two-run home run to left, giving his team a lead they would never relinquish. Wyatt Grant added a sacrifice fly in the third, and the Hoppers’ bats came alive late, scoring four runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.

On the mound, Harry Orth was dominant, tossing six shutout innings while scattering five hits, striking out five, and walking just three. The bullpen duo of Austin Baugh and Deion Walker kept the Unicorns in check, combining for three scoreless innings.

The Unicorns threatened in the early innings, putting multiple runners on base, but the Hoppers’ defense held firm, including a key relay throw to cut down a runner at the plate in the fourth.
