USPBL Player Award Candidates Announced

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The United Shore Professional Baseball League announced candidates for player awards. The player awards will be released before Friday night’s playoff game between the Westside Woolly Mammoths (#4) and the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (#3) in a pregame recognition at Jimmy John’s Field.

Eastside Diamond Hoppers Zack Gray won the triple crown with a .294 batting average, 22 RBIs and 6 dingers this season.

PITCHER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES
Ty Hensley, RHP, Unicorns

  • Finished the regular season with a 9-1 record
  • Pitched a no-hitter on Aug. 6, combined no-hitter on July 3 and Aug. 14
  • Ranks second with 70 strikeouts this season

Garrett Christman, RHP, Beavers

  • Leads the league with 71.0 innings pitched
  • Ranks No. 1 with 90 strikeouts this season
  • Is tied for first with a 66.5 strikeout percentage

Nolan Clenney, RHP, Unicorns

  • No. 1 with 9 saves
  • Led the league with 25 appearances
  • His 1.44 ERA ranks sixth in the USPBL

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER CANDIDATES

  • Finished the regular season with a 9-1 record
  • Pitched a no-hitter on Aug. 6, combined no-hitter on July 3 and Aug. 14
  • Ranks second with 70 strikeouts this season

Zack Gray, 1B, Hoppers

  • Earned the Triple Crown with a league leading .294 batting average, 22 RBIs and 6 home runs
  • His .500 slugging percentage leads the USPBL
  • Ranks first with a .892 on base percentage

Adam De La Cruz, 3B, Hoppers

  • Ranks No. 1 with 22 runs
  • Is tied for second with six doubles
  • Ranks No. 8 in RBI (26)

Cameron Comer, C, Beavers

  • Tied for second with 26 hits
  • Is tied for second with six doubles
  • His .385 slugging percentage is tied for third

Alec Olund, UTL, Mammoths

  • Tied for No. 1 with two triples
  • Made several diving catches including robbing a pair of home runs
  • Recorded the fourth lowest swinging strike out rate at 8.8%
