UTICA, Mich. – History was made Friday night at Jimmy John’s Field as Pablo Ruiz hit for the cycle, leading the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (14-23) to a commanding 12-2 victory over the Utica Unicorns (19-19).

Ruiz homered in the second inning, singled in the third, doubled in the fifth, and tripled in the sixth to complete one of baseball’s rarest feats. He finished a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base, becoming the star of a Beavers lineup that tallied 18 hits.

Matt Piotrowski added three RBIs on a three-hit night, Nick Payne collected three hits including a double while scoring twice, and DJ Butler matched them with three hits of his own.

On the mound, Choyce Diffey (4-4) tossed six solid innings, striking out five and allowing just one run on five hits.
