August 10th, 2025
UTICA, Mich. – Behind dominant pitching and a clutch home run from Blake McRae, the Westside Woolly Mammoths (19-18) blanked the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (12-21), 2–0, in Game Two of Saturday’s doubleheader at Jimmy John’s Field.
After stranding multiple baserunners in the early innings, the Mammoths broke through in the third. Anthony Sharkas drew a walk, stole third, and came home on a sacrifice fly from Hank Dodson to put Westside up 1–0.
In the sixth, McRae provided insurance with a solo blast to left, his first of the season, extending the Mammoths’ lead to 2–0.
On the mound, Cam Vieaux (3-0) was nearly unhittable, tossing five shutout innings while striking out 10 and allowing just three hits. Ryan DuSang worked a scoreless sixth to earn his third save of the year.
– The Beavers managed just four hits in the game and struck out 11 times, unable to generate any sustained offense against the Mammoths’ pitching duo.
