Beavers Bounce Back, Bury Hoppers in Game Two
UTICA, Mich. – After a lopsided loss in the opener, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (8-10) flipped the script in Game 2, delivering an 8-1 win over the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (14-7) behind explosive early offense and strong pitching.
The Beavers racked up 13 hits, including a 2-run homer by Nate Mensik in the fifth and a pair of RBI singles from Raul Guillermo and DJ Butler. Jackson Romero went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Chase Rodriguez added two hits of his own in a productive outing for the reshuffled lineup.
On the mound, Choyce Diffey was dominant across five innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine. Noah Miller tossed a clean sixth to seal the win.
The Hoppers plated their only run in the top of the first on a Jorge Gonzalez RBI single, but they were stymied from that point forward—held to just four hits and striking out 11 times.
