Unicorns Rally Late Over Hoppers, 6-4
UTICA, Mich. – The Utica Unicorns (3-2) scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning, to pick up the victory in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (3-2) at Jimmy John’s Field on a beautiful evening.
The Unicorns saved all of their runs for an epic comeback, led by Sherman Martin III, who doubled to lead off the inning. The inning was capped by a bases clearing double by Jared Weber, who would later score himself off an error by Hoppers’ Jake Shier at shortstop.
Pierce Banks threw a no-hitter heading into the sixth inning, but eventually gave up a double to Martin III. Banks tossed 5.0 innings, striking out seven, allowing only two hits and three runs, walking only one.
