Beavers Use Long Ball to Beat Hoppers, 10-2
UTICA, Mich. – Justin Wylie homered and drove in three runs and Justin Kelly crushed a three-run home run to power the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (10-10) to a 10-2 win over the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (10-12) on Saturday at Jimmy John’s Field.
Left-handed pitcher Jimmy Fitzgerald made his first start for the Beavers on the mound, working 2.2 scoreless innings before leaving the game after being struck in the hand with a line drive. Also joining the home run party for the Beavers was third baseman TJ Ward.
Freddy Jehle led the Diamond Hoppers with a 2-for-4 performance and one run scored. Pat Adams extended his hit streak to 10 games and has now reached base safely in all 23 games for the Hoppers.
