Mammoths Break It Open Late to Take Game One

UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (4-0) used a big fifth inning to take game one of tonight’s doubleheader by a final score of 6-2, against the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (1-3).
After both teams traded runs in the fourth inning, the Mammoths broke things open with four runs in the fifth. Caleb Marmo led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Dalton Pearson added two RBIs in the win.
On the mound, Dillon Chapa tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to start the game before Reilly Schafer earned the win in relief with three strikeouts over 2.0 innings.
For the Beavers, Tommy Barth collected a double and Derek Gellos drove in both runs.
