Pitching Impressive As Beavers Beat Unicorns

UTICA, Mich. – Both teams were strong on the hill on Saturday, but the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers defeated the Utica Unicorns 1-0. Dyson Johnson started the game for Beavers and recorded 18 outs.

An early lead helped propel Beavers to victory. Beavers scored one run on a ground out in the first inning.

Johnson stepped on the bump first for Beavers. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Matthew Colucci stepped on the mound first for Unicorns. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking three.

Pablo Ruiz, Ben Wilcoxson, and Matt Piotrowski each collected one hit for Beavers. Tyler Shinn led the team with one run batted in. Beavers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nick Payne had the most chances in the field with nine.

Joe Muzio went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Unicorns in hits. Unicorns were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ethan Krizen had the most chances in the field with six.
