Mammoths Shut Out Unicorns 3-0 Behind Vieaux’s Complete Game
August 2nd, 2025
UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (15-17) secured a 3-0 victory over the Utica Unicorns (15-15) on Saturday afternoon at Jimmy John’s Field, fueled by a dominant pitching performance and timely power at the plate.
Left-hander Cam Vieaux went the distance for the Mammoths, tossing six shutout innings while scattering five hits and striking out four. Vieaux did not issue a walk, improving to 2-0 on the season and lowering his ERA in the process.
The Mammoths struck quickly in the third inning, plating all three of their runs. Tommy Stevenson broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run, and two batters later, Anthony Sharkas launched a two-run shot to left-center, driving in Sebastian Trinidad. That would prove to be all the offense Westside needed.
The Unicorns threatened with five hits but were stifled by strong Mammoths defense, which turned three double plays to erase potential rallies.
With the win, the Mammoths move to 15-17 on the season, while the Unicorns fall to 15-15.
