Unicorns Take Down Beavers, 10-5

UTICA, Mich. – The Utica Unicorns (19-17) scored 10 runs on 11 hits, en route to defeating the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (14-21) with a final score of 10-5 on Saturday night at Jimmy John’s Field.
Ben Wilcoxson started the scoring for the Beavers, hitting a single, stealing second, and scoring a run in the first inning to give Birmingham an early one-run lead.
Utica totaled five hits and five earned runs in the first. Kyle Schmack started the inning with a two-RBI double. Austin Ochoa hit an RBI single, and Marques Titialii hit his first professional home run into left field, a two-run homer giving Utica a four-run lead. The runs continued to pile on for the Unicorns in the second. Patrick Baggett singled, scoring Cam Farrar, and Ochoa walked into loaded bases, scoring Andre Demetral, bringing the score to 7-1.
The Beavers added two runs in the top of the fourth. Tyler Shinn hit his first homer of the season, a two-run bomb to move the Beavers closer to the Unicorns.
In the eighth, Sam Buduris hit a two RBI in-the-park home run, much to the enjoyment of the fans in attendance, securing the Unicorns victory.
