Woolly Mammoths Use Five-Run 7th Inning to Down Hoppers, 12-5

UTICA, Mich.Wade Weinburger hit his first home run of the season and went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Westside Woolly Mammoths (3-2) to an 12-5 come-from-behind victory over the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (0-5) on Friday in front of a sellout crowd at Jimmy John’s Field.

Right-handed pitcher D’Anthony Beckman (1-0) earned the win in relief, throwing o.2 scoreless innings and struck out one. Third baseman Buddy Dewaine Jr. went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Collin Ledbetter pitched a very strong 3.0 innings, giving up no hits, no runs, one walk, and striking out seven.

The Diamond Hoppers used long ball to take an early lead. Both Joe Burke and Nick Kreutzer hit two home runs, bringing in a combined five runs.

The Hoppers are back in action tomorrow, taking on the Beavers. It’s Classic Rock Night sponsored by WLLZ, featuring American Ages Band live on the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union Sound Stage. Gates open at 6 p.m. and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
