ROCHESTER, Mich. —The United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL powered by UWM) today announced that Francis Florentino, right-fielder for the Westside Woolly Mammoths, has been signed by the Minnesota Twins organization. Florentino is the 49th USPBL player to be signed by a Major League organization since the start of the USPBL’s inaugural season in 2016, and the third this year.

Florentino, a 23-year-old, 6’2”, 205 lb., outfielder from the Dominican Republic, appeared in 14 games to start the 2023 season. While with the USPBL, he had an on-base percentage of .411 and a .547 slugging percentage. Florentino had a 13-game hit streak, with two home runs, nine runs, 20 hits and 12 RBIs. Defensively, he had a strong arm. Florentino threw two runners out trying to earn extra bases.

Taylor Grzelakowski, Manager of the Westside Woolly Mammoths, said of Florentino, “Francis was the top player in our league from the very first day he arrived at the USPBL. He has an electric arm that is fun to watch. He led all offensive categories at one point during the season thanks to his big league approach. He can hit the ball anywhere on the field. He will be missed, but we wish him the best of luck and I know he’ll do great things at the next level.”
