USPBL Begins Spring Training at UCS Baseball Facilities

ROCHESTER, Mich. – In preparation for the 2018 season, the United Shore Professional Baseball League will begin spring training Monday through Sunday, April 30-May 6. Utica Community Schools will host spring training all week at Eisenhower High School, Henry Ford II High School, Stevenson High School and Utica High School through the USPBL’s excellent partnership with UCS.

“Spring Training is a very important part of a professional baseball player’s preparation as we get ready for another strong USPBL season,” said Executive Director of Baseball Operations Justin Orenduff. “We are thankful for our strong partnership with UCS, and our players understand how important it is to give back to the community that supports them on and off the diamond.”

The season opener will be on Friday, May 11, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m in a rematch of last year’s championship game between the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers and Westside Woolly Mammoths. Live music will include American Band, JJ The Field General will make his debut as the league’s bat dog, as well as the inaugural USPBL Dance Crew. Other festivities include free schedule magnet giveaway for the first 750 fans through the gates, face painting, and a ring ceremony and championship flag raising for the defending champion Beavers.

Single-game tickets are now on sale for the 2018 season. Opening Weekend will feature Fireworks Spectacular on Friday night, WCSX Classic Rock Saturday with Captured Detroit, Journey Tribute Band, and Sunday Fun Day with a Mother’s Day Brunch.
