Beavers Explode for Eight Runs in the Fifth to Split the Doubleheader

UTICA, Mich – The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (2-3) broke open a tight game with an eight-run fifth inning to earn a split in tonight’s doubleheader with a 10-3 win over the Westside Woolly Mammoths (4-1).
Tommy Barth led the offensive charge with three hits and three RBIs, while Chase Rodriguez delivered a bases-clearing triple during the big fifth inning rally. Jeffrey Reseigh added two RBIs and Derek Gellos finished with two hits and an RBI in the win.
Kaehukai Young also had a strong night at the plate with two hits and two runs scored as the Beavers piled up 10 hits overall.
On the mound, Blake Johnson struck out six over 4.0 innings before Josh Nielsen closed out the final two innings to secure the victory.
For the Mammoths, Dalton Pearson collected two hits and scored twice in the loss.
