Unicorns Take Down Mammoths, 8-5

UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Wooly Mammoths (8-7) would come up short in their comeback attempt in a close game against the Utica Unicorns (11-8) on Thursday night at Jimmy John’s Field.
The first two innings of the game would be hitless, before Nick Pastore had the first hit of the game on a single in the top of the third.
The Unicorns would load the bases in the top of the third inning off of consecutive hits from Austin Ochoa, Andre Demetral, and Patrick Baggett. Jared Weber would capitalize on the opportunity, hitting a single and earning 2 RBI to give the Unicorns the lead.
Khyle Radcliffe, who made his debut last week, would earn his second and third USPBL career RBIs on a base hit, continuing the high scoring third inning for Utica.
Baggett and Ethan Krizen earned RBIs in the inning, giving the Unicorns a 6-0 lead. The Unicorn’s entire lineup would have an at bat in the inning.
Westside picked up their first run of the game in the top of the 4th, and continued to bring their offense into the 5th, scoring two runs off the bat of a Francis Florentino single, followed by a double from Fox Leum, also earning him 2 RBIs and bringing the score within two runs.
The Mammoths would not be able to earn any more runs, and the game would end in a win for the Unicorns 8-5.
