Justin Karn
Manager
Justin Karn enters his fifth season in the United Shore Professional Baseball League and his first full season as Manager of the Westside Woolly Mammoths. Karn made an immediate splash after taking over managerial duties late in the 2024 season, guiding the Mammoths on a remarkable 18-2 run to capture the top playoff seed. Under his direction, the pitching staff delivered one of the most dominant stretches in league history, posting a 2.21 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and striking out 11.49 batters per nine innings.
Karn brings a diverse and successful coaching resume to the USPBL, with experience ranging from NCAA Division I to the junior college level. Prior to taking the reins in Westside, he served as the Head Coach at Madonna University. In three seasons, he led the Crusaders to an 83-46 record, appearing in the conference championship game every year and capturing the title in 2023. His tenure saw the team rewrite the program’s offensive record books while producing 20 All-Conference selections, one All-American, and 10 professional players.
Previously, Karn served as an Assistant Coach at NCAA Division II St. Thomas Aquinas, where he orchestrated a pitching staff that led the Spartans to back-to-back conference championships and a 2014 College World Series appearance. He also spent time as an Assistant and Interim Head Coach at Oakland University (NCAA D1), overseeing the development of the program’s highest-drafted pitcher in two decades and its first-ever First Team All-Conference pitcher.
A leader on the field before he was one in the dugout, Karn was a four-year starter and three-time team captain at Iona College.
Karn currently resides in Annapolis, MD, with his wife, Lauren, and their two children, Mickey and Sophie.
